When asked what prompted him to start smoking and curing smallgoods, Tootie Nucifora says he always dreamed of making his own flavours and recipes.
"As soon as my dad bought this place when I was in school, I knew I wanted to be a butcher… a great butcher." - Tootie Nucifora
Tootie has a passion for growing cattle, and he absolutely loves handling the herd, and seeing them happily grazing the land. Tootie also believes in selling a high quality product in our family shop, by selecting the right cattle to suit each customers' needs!
"We are your traditional butcher. Everything comes in as a carcass and is boned out and processed right here on the premises; we still do it the old-fashioned way."
We are a proud family business, and we employ the best of the best staff from Babinda and surrounds! (Well, we think so!)

Tootie and Wendy Nucifora have owned and operated Babinda Meat Mart since 1989. Prior to buying the business, they both worked for the previous owners (Tootie's parents!). Tootie has 40 years experience with cattle, both growing and selecting cattle for the shop, as well as butchering.
Both Tootie and Wendy were born and bred in the Babinda area, and to them it is incredibly important to supply top quality products and friendly service to the community that they love.
Nestled in the high mountain plains on the Atherton Tablelands is Joluma Pastures. Lush green pastures, good annual rainfall & beautiful natural spring water make a perfect diet for our beef cattle. Also the luxury of a lick of molasses every week keeps our herd nice, quiet and easy to handle. Often when we call out, ‘C’mon bullocks’, they prick up their ears & start to head home, knowing they will get their treat of molasses. The cattle are quiet enough that we are able to walk amongst them to sort them out & this keeps the stress level to a minimum. This also plays an important part in keeping our meat tender and a high quality for our customers.
